‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step’ the wise Lao Tzu once said. Seven years ago my
passion, and my curiosity about effortless high performance opened a new door for me. Not that I ever expected
my professional journey to unfold in a way that would lead me to doctoral research. In fact, my initial idea was to
begin research on effortless high performance with the purpose of writing a book. I experienced considerable
uncertainty at the beginning, such as how the research would take shape?
Along the way, I met diverse mentors and I was so lucky to have been touched by such bright minds, people who wholeheartedly believed in me and really stretched me to explore unknown territories. I want to thank with all my heart Prof. Elmira Bancheva and Prof. Kristian Hadjiev for their inspirational input and guidance on the tricky pathway of scientific research.
I must admit that my passion and excitement overarched the inevitable lurking fears. I just trusted my instincts
and pushed myself on a journey of expansion. My husband was my biggest supporter, my believing mirror who
was gently holding my hand in moments of doubt.
I must admit it’s sometimes challenging in the academic world for free spirited people like me. In being resistant to compromising the way I shape and expand my research topic, I had to take some tough decisions – what to change and what I could not. Well, here I am… ready to play the 18 th hole (as in golf). My PhD defence will be on the 14 th of May at 11.00 h in the New Bulgarian University,Sofia, Bulgaria.
For the curious minds my topic is THRIVING LEADERSHIP – CONCEPT, FACTORS AND COACHING FOR LEADERS AND TEAMS DEVELOPMENT.

Last, but not in importance: follow your passions… they eventually become your purpose. It’s not a straight-line
journey, but it is exciting and worth living it.
